Axolotl
Comprehensive health monitoring of your axolotl colonies

PathoScreen CE Axolotl
The axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum) is considered one of the most important model organisms in modern biology. It is best known for its extraordinary regenerative abilities as well as its neotenic developmental stage. The animal can regenerate a wide range of its body structures—including the brain, heart, jaw, limbs, lungs, ovaries, spinal cord, skin, and tail. In addition, antimicrobial peptides found in the axolotl’s skin mucus have shown effectiveness in cell studies against certain breast cancer cells and the hospital pathogen MRSA.
Our multiplex PCR "PathoScreen CE Axolotls" was developed for monitoring the health status of axolotl colonies. It covers all pathogens typical for diseases in salamanders and detects a broad spectrum of bacteria, including mycobacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses. In addition to molecular biological analyses, we also offer microbiological testing.
In addition to molecular biological examinations, we also offer microbiological and pathological examinations.
