Research & Development

At GVG Diagnostics GmbH, we carry out our own research and development projects to be able to offer you latest technology in the field of laboratory animal diagnostics. With these projects we improve detection methods for known and new pathogens and develop new detection methods in the field of laboratory animal diagnostics.

To address complex issues, we cooperate closely with the institutes of the University of Leipzig, like the Institut für Bioanalytik and specialized institutes of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. For example, we were able to develop highly specific and sensitive ELISA tests based on recombinant proteins with our partners.

As a practical partner of the BA Riesa, we also use our development projects for the education of our students. Thus, we can jointly pursue exciting projects and provide the students with state-of-the-art knowledge for their professional training.

Currently, we focus our research & development activities on the development of innovative sequencing technologies such as NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) in laboratory animal diagnostics. Based on this technology, we have just established a method for microbiome analysis. In the second quarter of 2022, we will introduce our NGS-based multi-pathogen panel PathoScreen, which will allow us to detect over 70 laboratory animal relevant pathogens (viruses, bacteria, parasites) in a single analysis.
